Bacchae

Dolphin Theatre, March 2003

Funny and bloody – Bacchae is a new adaptation of Euripides' classic Greek tragedy about the clash between east and west and the price paid for freedom.

Dionysus (the sexy, smart-talking god of wine and pleasure) arrives in the city of Thebes with a horde of ecstatic fans. They dance and sing to electric guitar, beat drums and chant: “Dionysus! Ho! Dionysus!”
